The Four Laws of Behavior Change- PART III
Four laws that can change the course of your destiny
"
Its a very hot Sunday Evening, my mind has refused to stay still—this week I gained new information that sadden my heart(watch the video in the Resource Section),—But it is my own mind that torments me tonight,
I had a black out last Sunday and as a result I couldn’t send my newsletter, But then after work on Monday I sent it!— well so I thought,
I found out on Thursday it didn’t deliver— So this week you’re getting two mails from me, Today and Tomorrow. "
Welcome!, I’m sure you are wondering why you are getting my mail on a Monday, the truth is that I had a black out yesterday and tbh I’m too ashamed to tell the tale here!😆
If you are imaging the worst, you are probably wrong; amidst the hellish week I had, I meet the head of brand and communication of an investment bank, this week and we had a very interesting conversation on land banking.
Land banking refers to the practice of acquiring and holding land for future development or investment purposes without immediately putting it to productive use.
RECAP
In the last two episodes I’ve taken u on a Journey of Discovery on how we derived the Four laws of Behavior change, We talked about Thorndike and his experiment with cats that Laid the foundation of our inquiry into the nature of how habits form, last week I showed the science of how habits work- CUE-CRAVING-RESPONSE-REWARD
THE FOUR LAWS OF BEHAVIOR CHANGE
All we have learnt so far leads us straight to the four laws of behavior change, this are a simple set of rules we can use to build better habits.
How to Create a Good Habit
The 1st law (Cue): Make it obvious.
The 2nd law (Craving): Make it attractive.
The 3rd law (Response): Make it easy.
The 4th law (Reward): Make it satisfying.
I have used this laws and they work, you can use them to build good habits that will help you build and advance your Career Life, breaking bad habits also flow the same rule
Break a Bad Habit
Inversion of the 1st law (Cue): Make it invisible.
Inversion of the 2nd law (Craving): Make it unattractive
Inversion of the 3rd law (Response): Make it difficult
Inversion of the 4th law (Reward): Make it unsatisfying.
ACTION POINT
Whenever you want to change your behavior, you can simply ask yourself:
How can I make it obvious?
How can I make it attractive?
How can I make it easy?
How can I make it satisfying?
